OYLAT THERMAL SPRINGS Print

Oylat is beautiful both in summer and winter… But everywhere is like an oil painting by a master painter in autumn… Don't necessarily wait for getting sick to visit Oylat, which is much frequented by those who look for cure at its thermal spring for various kinds of diseases. Oylat should be visited to breathe its fresh air, go for a walk, listen to bird calls, watch the bubbling waterfalls and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of a magical world.

Our point of journey is Oylat, which is suitable for every season and famous for its healing nature and which is attached to the İnegöl district in Bursa. The waterfalls, which are formed by the Oylat brook, pass the valley and combine with the forest full of pine, hornbeam, oak, chestnut, basswood and planes and rose hip and blackberry plants.

Everywhere is covered with wild flowers and violets in spring, whereas everywhere looks like an oil painting in autumn. Furthermore, imagine the incredibly beautiful nature with its white cover in winter.

The thermal spring area, located on a hill which is surrounded with valleys on both sides, has leaned on the continuation of Uludağ. The thermal water has formed some "deposit" with the water consisting of calcium carbonate and calcium sulphate in a long period of time and thus established the terraces where the thermal spring is located.

The smoky Sivri Kaya Tepesi (Sharp Pointed Rock Hill) and the valley among thermal springs which looks like a canyon create a continuous fresh air corridor and pump oxygen.

The ground covered with leaves, fresh air with the smell of earth and the singing birds also accompany this atmosphere and the water which continuously runs with a gurgling sound turns into the enthusiastic sound of waterfalls and takes you to a magical world.

It can be understood from the coins and artifacts found in the Saadet Village near Oylat that the use of thermal spring dates back to the Roman era. The similar construction style with Roman baths, as well as the underground tanks and earthenware jars which have survived until today prove that the Oylat thermal spring has been used by Romans in the past. There is also a legend related to the Oylat thermal spring which was used in the Ottoman era as well. According to legend, the feudal landlord dominating the region in the era of Byzantium Empire takes to her bed due to a cureless disease. The wise men who are incapable of doing something give a last chance to the poorly suffering girl, bring her to Oylat in order to take her further away from the sight of people, tell her to lie down and die there and leave her alone. The girl who baths in this water everyday gets healthy again. When she returns to her father's palace, Oylat starts to be used as the source of cure. This is how the legend is. Now let's consider the issue from a scientific perspective.

The Mineral Research and Exploration Institute analyzes the naturally-rich thermal springs and thermal waters in our country with more modern apparatus. According to a recent analysis made by Professor Kerim Çağlar, the Oylat thermal water consists of calcium, sodium, magnesium, potassium, ferrous aluminum cations, and such anions as sulphate, hydro carbonate chloride, nitrate, hydro phosphate, hydro arsenate, meta silicate acide and free carbon dioxide. The water with a radioactivity rate of 10 and aimant reaction of 7.3 (Ph) also consists of some chrome. The Oylat thermal spring is categorized as the warm (hyperthermal) olygo-metallic calcium sulphate and radioactive waters.

Thermal spring in our breathe
The flowing waters of Oylat thermal spring are spread into the fresh forest air in the form of radium emanation (rodon) through radioactivity and other thermal water. Thus we take the thermal spring not only through bathing, but also inhaling. Its level in blood is balanced with the amount of inhaled air in half an hour.
The Oylat thermal spring which provides both air and climate therapy is good for neuralgia, neuritis, sciatic, meralgia, paresthesic intel costal neuralgia and occipital neuralgia. People suffering from painful neurological disorders, rheumatism, infantile paralysis and many other diseases are also healed through massages in bath and water. The water which stimulates the activities of body cells provides people with energy and dynamism in three-week treatments and increases internal excretion.
